The arsenal of software, hardware, and tools that I use.

Occasionally, I am asked about my preferred/current software, hardware, and tools. Below is a 'Quest Map' of the software I use, separated by domain, and detailing my experience with each. Click on each of the Realms below for more detailed information.

Development Workstation

  • Razer Blade 17 (2022), 12th Gen Intel Core i9 2.5GHz 14 cores, 64GB RAM

Razer has been pretty good to me over the years. While I don't use this machine for gaming, it does provide enough power for the most basic video game development tasks.

Digital Audio Workstation

  • Razer Blade 17 (Early 2020), 10th Gen Intel Core i7 2.3GHz 8 cores, 64GB RAM

This is my slightly older machine that I use for composing music. It has worked really well for me over the years and it can handle everything I throw at it.

  • Nektar Impact GX49

A 49-key board - light and responsive. Definitely has worked well for me.

  • Behringer X-Touch Compact Controller

I use this with the Studio One software to compose - a wonderfully crafted piece of equipment.

  • Akai Professional MPD218

A midi device for playing with beats. This is a blast to play.

Development Tools

  • Unreal Engine 5

Top-tier game development engine. If you are not using it, I highly recommend you check it out.

  • Visual Studio 2022

I use VS for compiling my C++; pretty standard choice for Windows users, though there are other options. I used VS at work so for me it was an obvious choice.

  • VS Code

A great general code-editor with some really cool features. Perfect for anything from Markdown to Python, it's got got a plethora of well-crafted features that won't let you down.

Composition

  • Studio One

I use Studio One for music composition and I love every minute of it.

  • EastWest Opus

A tool/library by EastWest that provides some of the best digital instruments available. Highly recommended.

Design

  • Blender

An amazing tool for modeling and rendering - at a great price, too. Support this team however you can.
